Clannad: Tomoyo After ~Dear Shining Memories~
So I finally got around to reading this thing and quite enjoyed it (I'm still baaaawwwing!). From what I've been reading, it hits the main points of the VN in a ultra condensed way. Anyone else ever take a look and have any thoughts?

I did actually watch this anime a couple years ago, and it might interest you to know that it's very similar to another anime/manga called Kanon. I found it incredibly sad how these two end, but in the end it was the most appropiate ending for the series.

Hey Jamie14 welcome to the boards, the fact that you're a new member posting here makes me think that the advertising in those weekly e-mails or the constant bitching about posting on the boards in the club meeting has paid off.
Either way here's a history lesson for you:
Clannad and Kanon and Air are all animes done by Kyoto animation which are adapted from ero-games from a company called Key.
Kanon was originally made in 2002 by a crappy company called Toei animation, this show sucked hard and was 12 eps long.
3 Years later Toei saw the Air ero-game and decided to make one of the worst movies ever about it. A little side introduction about me, I normally like recommending anime that I enjoy and if I don't enjoy an anime I don't usually actively say that you should NOT watch it I just mention my dislike for it but everyone has their likes and dislikes so I don't prevent people from checking things out for themselves. Back on topic, for this movie in particular I ACTIVELY DISAGREE with anyone watching this movie, it was terrible and messed up the entire story.
In 2005 Kyoto made their first Key adaptation of Air, I'm sure they felt bad about what Toei did with the movie and decided to do the storyline justice, it was great, you should check it out if you liked Kanon and Clannad.
In 2006 Kyoto one-upped Toei again and remade Kanon in 24 episodes and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen
In 2007 Kyoto blessed us with their next Key work which was the show in question for this forum thread, Clannad. It's awesome as well
In 2007, shortly after the Clannad series starting broadcasting Toei decided to release their rendition of Clannad in a movie format cause although they keep losing to Kyoto they still keep trying to make something good. BUT IMO this movie was actually worth watching. They actually stuck closer to the Nagisa storyline more than Kyoto did for the first portion, and seeing how events unraveled in a different way was really interesting to watch. But overall it was still worse than Kyoto's rendition, good try Toei, good try.
In 2008 Kyoto finished up the story with Clannad ~After Story~, it was sad but awesome as well. There were also a couple of fantastic OVA's that accompanied this show.
So what I'm trying to get at is, if you enjoyed Clannad and Kanon manga/animes you should check out the other Kyoto animes that you haven't seen yet such as Air and the Clannad after story.

Re: Clannad: Tomoyo After ~Dear Shining Memories~
Thanks for the welcome! ^^ My brother is actually in the Japanese Media Society Club, so I found out about the boards and meetings from him.
I did know that there were ero-games from Clannad and Kanon, but I never really played them because our computer was and still is non-existent. xD
I haven't watched the movie, so I may have to check it out. I did however did some looking up on Air. ^-^ It was cute just like Clannad and Kanon. ^^ I have yet to see Clannad the After Story, but I'll try to when I get the time.
Thanks for the recommendations!

Clannad is not an eroge (except the Tomoyo game).
