Yosuga no Sora: Maid Badly Needs Man

Plot: Two twins - Haruka and Sora, his younger sister, are going back to grandfather's house.

They visited this house many times when they were kids and they still remember it. A while ago, they lost their parents in a car accident and they decided to move and live at their grandfather's house.... Nao, their old friend, Ryouhei, his classmate, Akira, a miko at a neighboring shrine, and Kazuha, Akira's close friend, welcome them.

Nothing is changed. His good old memories and silent atmosphere heal his sadness.... However, his peaceful life gradually changes.... A secret promise made long time ago. A lost treasure. A real reason for moving to the town. Real feelings. The story now starts under the summer sun...

Thoughts:
See the problem here is where do I start.

Okay, so basically for anyone who hasn't been paying to anything I said everyone, this is an adaptation of an eroge of the same name. The game is basically known for its blatant incest route in an otherwise slice of life about returning to a life left behind. Man this show doesn't tip toe around its origins (more on this later).

Moving on, the first half was relatively uneventful what with the show hitting your basic harem elements. It's about half way that the interesting parts start to surface. Lets start with the Sora reminiscing about a child hood incident where the siblings ended up kissing. Then, after everyone in his class just swoons over Haru, the guy gets home and Sora fantasizes about jamming her tongue down his throat. Add in a bath scene with one of the other girls, then move on to Haru waking up during a storm to find Sora stripping in front of him. Credits play, followed by a short about maid onanism, then credits play again.

You know what, I don't care, I couldn't hold my face straight for the entirety of the second half and I'll stand by this show just to see how far they'll go. I mean, no one thought School Days would hit a dead end, and Sora seems like she's just a few steps away from putting Haru on a nice boat.

Closing thoughts: Why does this show have two EDs?

One of the EDs shown was probably the actual OP that we'll see next week.

Overall, I thought it was pretty interesting. Based off of an eroge?...well that explains why I can see the eroge overtones in this show from a mile away! This show did remind me a lot of School Days, so I think that I'll stick with this one for the season to see what kind of ending they'll ultimately go with.

Ok so I basically had two different faces on after this show, one after the actual show and a different one after the maid's side story... let's just say the latter was more WTFified
I guess.. I'll start my thoughts from the beginning..
I knew it was going to be interesting in some twisted way when I saw the words GANSIS and feel. Hearing Eufonius is obvious, the way she sings is very unique with the bouncy tones. This isn't a bad type of unique sound like ALI project though, not sure if I'll DL it when it comes out or not though.
I like how the maid was ogling Haruka (why is his name Haruka, that's a female name) from the car, it's not often you see a maid that's so hyper, they're usually the proper/formal type. For that matter, I can't remember the last time I saw a show where EVERYBODY was getting hot for the main guy at first glance.
Up till this point I was more or less accepting what I had seen, and then the flashback happened, at which point I was slowly changing into WTF mode. I mean seriously there was zero explanation why two kids randomly around the age of oh say... 7 or 8 decided that they wanted to kiss each other.... mutually
"Even though I sent you so many texts I knew that there was just no possible way that you DIDN'T have reception in this empty countryside." At this point I had a feeling that she was touching herself, but I wasn't really sure, later on I was almost positive, I'll get to that point in a bit.
Nearing the end I realized that there are nudyboobies in this show and I've accepted that this show is rated R, THEN at the end she says "make me come". It was around here that I got further WTFified and I figured the show was rated R+ (apparently on MAL R and R+ are different things). I halfway believe that that was a dream of Haruka's.
First ending, it was alright, but I notice there was still 5 minutes left, was that Sphere? I'll check into the musical productions for this show later.
Maid side story, this is where I really need one of those

It was this side story that confirmed 3 things for me
1. This show is some kind of R+++
2. Sora was indeed touching herself earlier because they animated the legs the exact say way in both scenes
3. This show will go further than I imagine and thus I believe that Thahn may be right about it going School Days status on us

Also after watching this I put 2&2 together and remembered that this is the same studio that did KissXSis.... well now....
Then came the amazing second ending song which I'll most likely DL when it comes out, not only was it a fun song, it was accompanied by an entertaining animation sequence.

Basically I have no idea what this show is ultimately about, I dunno if it's any more deep than a harem anime with incest elements or not but it's most likely gonna pull some kind of ridiculous shit later on and I wanna see what it is. If the speedy pace of the ENTIRE-TOWN-going-into-heat-for-Haruka-in-one-episode keeps up then they definitely are trying to clear out the boring stuff for something interesting later on.
Final note: according to the translation of the first ending song I guess Yosuga = sin so the title is Sora's Sin? If so, is her sin having an incest relationship with her brother or is her sin ending the show a la School Days.

Two is up and running, and the whole Sora stripping went absolutely no where, then again if it went somewhere there wouldn't be a need for ten more episodes. We get formally introduced to the last two characters and the show seems to be heading into a plot arc or something, either Akira, Kazu or somekinda combination.

This show seems to like putting all its service until the second half. Jealous Sora was rather cute, and she did appear less like she'll go off the slippery slope this time around.

Standard stuff mainly, I did like the part where Sora was talking to herself mimicking Kazuhara(I think that's Ojou-sama's name) when she came over to do the buttons, and then got yomi'd by the ice cream bar.

Time for another installment of Yosuga no what the hell!?!

As a change of pace the service was in the first half instead of the second. I was greatly amused with Haru's imagination and his follow up statement to Kazu and her reaction. I do wonder why she was in her gym clothes when she chased him...

I'm going to skip this short to the most important part, Haru and Kazu making out in the middle of the road. I mean, WOW, now that's a kiss scene, passion and tongue and all. Now I have absolutely no idea how this show will develop. This is the third ep after all so the most likely outcome is they break it off for some reason, but that preview was enticing.

Closing: This show sure loves its ice cream licking.

Man this show brought back memories of my personal romantic times, except there was just one girl and not 5, and we weren't in a village, and there were a lot more cars, and she wasn't presumed to be Asian (sadly).
But yeah I really like this show's pacing, I mean..... form here we get romantic conflict with Kazu and Haru staying together, or we get romantic conflict after he dumps her/cheats on her and School Days v.2 happens. Either way is solid, the only bad road would be the Asobi no Ikuyo ending where all the haremettes simply propose to share the cock and live happily with that situation.
I like how Akira showed Sora her fortune (or I assumed it was) on her popsicle and then the next scene when she's gently caressing it with her tongue maki....what err yeah the fortune was gone.
So far this show has exceeded my expectations.

This show is moving pretty fast IMO.

But more importantly, why the hell am I still watching it?

i would to say that this is the first male character with some balls and knows that the wants a vagina non of this waffleing around bullshit we see from all of these other male characters so props to them for that. the maid after story fails to dissapoint yet again i silently chuckled for a good two minutes again.

Well that explains the breakneck speed of plot development, this show is using an omnibus format (see Amagami SS). I guess if I want details, no that's not a metaphor for details, I'll have to play the game.

If you haven't been looking at any blogs post and you're planning to watch this if for nothing more than a conclusion, uh... you should do so in privacy.

I might comment more later, but for now my brain is still trying to adjust.

I don't like reading your guys' posts on these shows before I watch them but if I had read Thahns I might've been wary of seeing something but I don't think I would've expected THIS.
Either way, very interesting about the format they're using, I suppose the Amagami way is a new thing but I was hoping for this show to have a continuous plot so it could possibly develop a la School Days, but now that's looking like a fading possibility.
But back to specifics about this storyline, some of the answers at the end seems a little vague, but I guess the end is just trying to tell us that she just had to trust her dad more. Of course I'm still not sure if the dad is Akira's real dad or not, I thought that she was her daughter from another mother, but after this episode it sounds like he was just taking care of her? Whatever.
More importantly, let me just say I was laughing really hard at the scene because, not only was the whole scene a flashback I mean... WHO THE FUCK FADES OUT INTO A FLASHBACK OF THAT KIND OF SHIT, and to make it worse, the flashback was happening during a heart-fealt moment of viola playing for the two people she cares about. So obviously at this point we now know that Haru doesn't give a shit about her feelings n' stuff, he just spends his time remembering the eroticism, the music playing during the commotion was just the first part of the hilarity. The other reason I was laughing was so hard is because they censor the hell out of everything, and then just show EVERYTHING, what the HELL was up with that? You see, I like episodes of anime like this, it's something we'll remember and talk about in the future 'cause it's just so WTF-like.
Lastly, I liked the meido's impression of Sora.

Yeah someone probably forgot they were on AT-X. I thought it was pretty funny that they did the closet-view thing and then they were like screw it, we don't have to do this.

Amagami could be setting the new format of how VN/Eroge/Dating Sims are adapted with its omnibus format. In this case though, I think it would've been better serve to use a continuous format to better develop the characters. Plus a continuous format helps keep the viewers on line that were keeping a false hope for a nice boat, or maybe nice train in this case.

well this show is only reseting at episode 3 so it wont be exactly like amagami what im wondering is will it at some point continue in time, like we are watching save states or something? wouldn't that be fun

Reset back to the end of Ep 2, which means Akira will get 2 episodes and we move on to the next arc. The structure will look something like:
1 = Everyone
2 = Common route for Akira and Kazuha
3 & 4 = Kazuha
5 & 6 = Resets back the events after episode 2 for Akira route
7 = The common episode for the main story for Nao and Sora. Resets events right after episode 1.
8 & 9 = Nao route
10, 11, 12 = Resets after episode 7 for Sora route.

It seems the purpose of those maid shorts at the end is to cut her as a story arc. If you're wondering about the class rep, she wasn't a route in the original game so she doesn't get a story. Isn't it sad Kozue?

Moving on, I liked this episode. It was kind of tugging at the heart string, seeing Akira put on a brave face while burying her pains, especially towards the end. Man that went along so well I lost track of time and I thought, "What, the twenty minutes are already up!"

Still I felt, even by the circumstances of this show, the romance was extremely accelerated mainly because there was no indicator from Haru's side, or at least from what I can remember. It just transitioned from Aki's private confession to Haru fondling a nekid miko.

I think I had another point somewhere, but I guess it got lost in thought.

So Thahn, I wonder where you got that info for the arc progression, it looks like a viable timetable though. But yeah Akira seems a lot more emotional and pained by per position than she did in the last arc but maybe that's because there wasn't much focus on her. I have to hand it to their dad though, he was able to get them BOTH to give birth on the same day? What a champ. I kinda felt the same way about the romantic progression though, she has these feelings for him, and he plays the generic role of helping out every girl he's ever known ANY WAY HE CAN and then all of a sudden he likes her. Now I'm not saying that in reality if he was put in that position with her in the bathtub he wouldn't go for it, so he could be just havin' some fun, but of course it's an anime story so they're in love etc. Now I guess I get to wait till next week to see if a we get a full on hentai scene complete with classical music with Akira. What made you think that? Ero has a habit of appearing quickly and in many instances for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Next episode should begin the second common route, so technically we don't have a focus on a girl yet. The next scene should be around 2-3 eps later.

End thought: I laughed at Akira cheating on the test during the short.

I think I can now say that I've seen child porn, seriously they looked so young in that flashback. Also regarding the flashback, I couldn't tell when I was watching a flashback and when I wasn't for a bit there.
What I'm really surprised about is that so far with the track record this show has, the quota demanded that there should have been a sex scene in the changing room.
Of course I wonder if the fact that they commented on their bad choice in hiding together in the box was some kind of hint to the viewers that the writers actually knew how retarded that choice was, but did it for erotic reasons anyways. But yeah, the episode itself felt a little rushed, but that might just be because I can only compare it to the speed of Amagami which has twice as many episode as this, and gansis/feel is trying it's best to fit as much hentai in the show as possible so they gotta fly through the emotional stuff as fast as they can.
Whatever, balloon head Akira is definitely still the best.
