Summer 2010

Post  Tekkaman Calamity on Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:44 am

Because it should get its own thread as opposed to being lumped with the random thread.

http://randomc.net/2010/06/14/summer-2010-preview/

Though I find the quantity is a bit lacking, there's a number of things that have piqued my interest.

Guaranteed watch:
High School of Dead - DUUUHHHH!!!!!
Ookami - ShizuItou as an angry DFC, that sounds too good for me to pass up.

Maybe:
Legendary heroes - I'll give it a spin and see how it goes. Jun once again plays a character with a glowing eyeball.
Shukufuku - Eroge adaptation usually gets one from obligation, unless the game was pretty bad. Anyways other than it being gorgeous, I hear the game had a serious pacing issue. Hopefully the show will fix that.
Yakuindomo - I'll probably end up comparing this to Ichizon.
Basara 2 - Put ya guns on again.

Does anyone else feel like the number of shows this season is significantly lower than the past couple of seasons as of late or is it just me? I'm not talking of shows that look interesting (although by proxy I'm only looking forward to two or three for the entire summer) I mean overall number, period.

The numbers of shows per season IS dropping, we've been seeing this for a little while now, of course this is probably hugely in part that Gonzo isn't putting out like 7 shows per season anymore.

Ok now that Hashihime put out a review for the Summer, I finally got around to reading everything thoroughly. I did not expect a lot of this stuff to catch my attention, but it did. I was thinking hoping that this season would be dismal for me since I don't think I can follow anything for July and would have to catch up to everything when I return to the US in August, but now it seems i"m going to need to spend a whole day marathoning everything that I wanna watch. I'll make a list of what catches my eye mainly so that I remember myself what I wanted to watch.

The Obvious:
Utawarerumono OVA 3: This can barely be considered as part of the Summer season seeing how it's already out.
Black Lagoon OVA: Yahayahayah
Kure-nai OVA: I had no idea, but I loved this series, good to see it getting an OVA
Highschool of the mother fucking DEAD: FUCK YEAH
Sengoku Basara 2: I'll be disappointed if there aren't more horse carriages running up buildings.
Black Rock Shooter OVA: Been waiting fucking long enough holy shit
Mirai Nikki OVA: This is only an OVA? I was under the impression that it was getting a full blown series
ToHeart2 adnext OVA: They're going to run out of sub-names for this shitty series that's still getting OVAs for GOD KNOWS what reason. But I have to watch it, obligation.

Interesting how most of the stuff I'm definitely watching is an OVA series, is this some sort of lack of budget thing that companies are going through? Or just not enough material or interest?

The Not-So-Obvious:
Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu: It's JC Staff, it's a romance, it's just going to happen I know it.
Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi: Yeah I just typed out that name, again; JC Staff, comedy romance, and a decent cast.... it's just gonna happen.
Amagami SS: Director and Writer from Working!! and the studio that did Kimikiss, I might drop this pretty fast, but until then I'll check it out.
Seitokai Yakuindomo: This just sounds fantastic, my only concern is the no-name company behind it, so it could go well or die hard.
Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin: Another hit or miss for me, I like the mystery occult theme but it could just put me straight to sleep.
Shiki: Again another mystery horror supernatural themed show, my only experience in this as far as anime is concerned is Ghost Hunt but that was a shoujo so it barely counts as a horror theme, also Jigoku Shoujo was labeled as horror, I just hope that Shiki delivers something genuinely eerie.
Asobi ni Iku yo!: This show sounds HORRIBLE but the writer of the ef series and Baka Test is doing this and the Mirai Nikki OVA, maybe it'll turn out enjoyable somehow, I won't feel settled unless I at least watch a few episodes, I gave Natsu no Arashi a try too, but that show put me straight to sleep.
Hen Zemi OVA: Sounds like a good OVA episode for the lols
Sono Hanabira ni Kuchuzuke wo Anata to Koibito Tsunagi: Yeah I totally typed that all out too. Yuri - Check, Erotic - Check, this will be great. This is not to be confused with that shitty incest show directly above it in the review article, that one just sounds bad. Now to try and translate this: The lips... that you touch.. like lovers? I'll probably be surprised once i find out how horribly off I really am.
Queen's Blade -- Beautiful Fighters: Well I watched the two seasons.... Maybe I'll get to see some Airi.

I LOLed at the Stitch from Lilo and Stitch spin-off.
So yeah I definitely did not expect to wanna watch this much stuff this summer, god please let me somehow acquire some of these eps in Switzerland.
