Bakuman

Post  Chumara on Sun Oct 03, 2010 3:22 am

Well now, I knew this manga had hype, a LOT of it, but I didn't think a manga about a manga artist could be that popular......now I know.
This first episode definitely captured me, I can see how it was done by the same author as Death Note, and I do wonder if he did Hikaru no Go as well since they put that reference in there. The love confession set-up was fantastic, and I'm glad things went well for him, this is definitely going to be an exciting show.

Well, I found that I was okay watching the first ep, I'm not sure why though. Maybe I'll stick around for some more.

Since it's over I decided to pick this up and have been absolutely lovin' this.
Comparisons I'd make (even if it's not accurate)
K-on to Beck
Doujin Work to Bakuman

Only 10 eps in and it's had it's ups and downs but I've heard too many good things on the ending (no spoilers but lots of positive comments) that I feel I should finish this.

Yeah I'm waiting on Tomodachi subs to finish the last ep but I've loved it, I wonder if they're going to aim for a second season.

A second season has already been announced, rumored to be later this year.
Side note: tomodachi subs needs a better TL or QC to check TL. The errors in translation are fairly frequent.

Really distracting. Seriously. Why does every character have one eye shut (like a wink) whenever they're having a "cool" moment. It's just weird.

So this show managed to run 3 2-cour seasons without dropping in quality, it's probably the only show I can think of off the top of my head to do that.
Been watching it for almost 3 years, and it's sad to see it finally come to a conclusion, but it ended really well and I'm glad JC Staff stuck to the manga the whole way through.
I love how anime can really hit you emotionally when it's done well.

It stuck to but did skip parts here and there, for example: the 2nd Nanamine arc right before the end of the manga.

Holy shit Anthony you're alive.
Oh well, I'd rather see the show end on a good note rather than try and stretch another arc over 12 episodes and get boring.
