Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai

Post  Ryuuka on Mon Oct 04, 2010 12:39 am

Thread for this. Watched it. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Reminds me of Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu but more interesting IMO.

Definitely more appealing to the siscons, though. Kirino seems to just be a guy cast as a girl, kinda like Kanako in Maria+Holic, only with the tsundere archetype instead.

Also lots of random packaging references.

Haha, oh man this was definitely more interesting than it originally looked. Kirino might as well be a loli-female-version of Thahn with a sister complex. I can see how it feels like Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, I do also find it a bit more interesting, not only because Kirino is much more confident in herself than Haruka was and much more sassy, but because Kyousuke has a much more negative outlook on Otaku stuff than Yuuto did and his relationship with the heroine isn't limited to a love interest like Haruka X Yuuto which was so obvious from the get-go. I only wish (as I did with Nogizaka) is that they didn't do all the secret revealing in the first episode, I'm sure they could just build up some comedic suspense for an ep or 2.
Anyways the only thing I'm worried about it that Kyousuke will eventually turn into a semi-otaku as the show goes on, I'd rather him keep his grim outlook on the matter since it's more fun to watch two characters that have a larger contrast try to come to terms with each other.
Lastly, I'm confused why Kirino didn't make a remark about the fact that right after he told her to get out the all-ages version he told her to give him a laptop so he could play the R-18 version..... whatever, looking forward to more of this.

It's SUPER IMOUTO TIME!

Well I enjoyed the first airing, though Kirino explaining how she got into the hobby hit way too close to home. Pretty much anything else I would've said has already been said, so I'll cut this short.

Ryuuka wrote:Also lots of random packaging references.

It took me some thought (because some of those games aren't about imouto loving), but the games I recognized do share a theme of having an imouto, even if the plot doesn't revolve around one. Considering they hit the three games in the series, I wonder if they would've used the School Days HQ box in there as well... if it wasn't delayed.

Also, if you read through the ending credits, they have a section crediting the various companies for the box arts like Over flow and feng (AkaSaka).

It's because she previously explained that he won't appreciate the story as much unless he plays the original release.

Are you implying that I'm a tsundere?

Haha, that episode was great. I laughed pretty hard at the whole anime argument part. I just need to learn the word for emo girl in moonspeak.
Also, their dad is awesome, he just tells it as it is and then doesn't give a damn about what the mother has to say as he interrupts her for some more rice.
Either way, I like where this show is going, but I still hope that Kyousuke doesn't succumb to becoming an otaku, his demeanor against the subject is half of the comedic element in this show.

It was a fun ep, the highlight for me was probably Kyousuke's face while they were in the BL store.

99% is something always hard to look at, especially if you've destroyed everything in your path and don't have any idea what the frakkin variable is.

The resolution to the drama was perhaps quick, but nothing for me to bash my head against a wall for. I did break out laughing when the father stated the implications resulting from Kyousuke's actions.

Still, I think they should scale back his gaming lingo. I mean, he's only played one game.

Yeah I thought the same thing, his irl thought process was a little too eroge oriented this episode. I didn't really want him to get that into otaku-ness at this early point of this show. Also I totally called Kyousuke on him saying "That game is mine".

When Kirino mentioned Atwiki I instantly knew what she was talking about. I think that's a pretty bad sign, well whatever.

Anyways, I think I could've done without them spending a quarter of the show waiting in line.

So I guess Tentacle Girl is top-tier cause that was some sort of mirror match if I've ever seen one. Anyways, god damn cliffhanger endings.... now I gotta wait a whole week to see how she gets out of this one.

Still... how does she own R-18 games when she's a middle schooler? Just because of money/fame? Confused.

Kirino reminds me of Nagi in Hayate the Combat Butler, where Kirino is an older Nagi but not anywhere near as rich.

Fake IDs, internet, pay off someone else to buy the stuff. Or, in probably a lot of cases, they just sell the stuff no questions asked.

Yuri yangire, good stuff.

I think they could've done without using an insert song when Kirino confronted Ayase, but otherwise I don't have any complaints and had plenty of laughs. 'Specially how Kyousuke explained the problem to his pops. I find their interactions are usually the high points of this show.

Man I had the biggest grin on my face when Ayase went batshit insane and accused Kirino of lying. I love that stuff.
But yeah I really liked this episode, it had some really funny moments. My first complaint is that I hope that Kyousuke's little resolution speech about being in an illicit relationship didn't completely ruin his chances with Ayase. I know that in her text to him she did note that she realized that he was making that stuff up for her sake, but I think that she still feels like he's also a fan of the hobby, which he never clarified for her in defense of Kirino, so her interest in him probably plummeted which is too bad because I was really looking forward to that relationship.
Second disappointment was that they didn't show the epic match of the century between brother and sister in SisCaly.

Idk I'd rather see Kyousuke + Saori but the chances of that are basically zero especially with Ayase is more of a main character in comparison.

Side note: every conversation with the dad, I can't help but picture Kenpachi in Bleach instead.

So I wonder if Kirino got those doujinshi replaced cuz... those sell for quite a bit, and unless they were hella nicely plastic-wrapped, I don't think they could withstand 5 mins in heavy rain.

Either way, this show is just getting more unbelievable every episode. Kyousuke just says dumber things every episode for the sake of driving the plot at the expense of his own image/pride. And to think that in the first episode people were praising the characterization for being realistic...

I'm pretty sure Sasahara in Genshiken had it right when he said "these fantasies are just the imagination of people who don't actually have little sisters."

Little sisters ordering Dakimakuras from Amazon? What has anime come to these days? Anyways the episode where Tamura does go to Kyousuke's house for a sleepover is going to be pretty funny seeing how Kirino will get involved somehow.

Was it necessary for the magical girl to get a casting spot in the OP?

I feel oddly inspired to get back to my writing from watching this, let's see how long that lasts.

edit: Also, this show needs more Kuroneko.
