Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
The latest Key project to be getting an anime, which will be produced by both P.A. Works and Aniplex and slated for April 2010.
Trailer:
Well, I suppose since it was a light novel and a manga, I won't be complaining about routes. Looks nice, and I suppose that glimpse of them playing baseball is as close as we're going to get to a Little Busters anime.

A Non-Toei Non-Kyoto Key based anime?!?!?
*Gasp*
well P.A. Works has the experience of making good drama/romance anime since they made True Tears, so I don't really have a problem with them making this. (Assuming it's a drama/romance because it's a Key Eroge regardless of how much of an action show it seems to be from that trailer.)

Actually, it wasn't an eroge, just books IIRC.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
SPOILERS
Just shoot me I don't care, there's no way Key made this. There are too many guys in the show
Watching that first episode was like playing Pyromancer in HoN, just blow your load and hope everything goes well from there.
Seriously though, between the animation quality throughout the entire episode, the concert scene (FIRST EPISODE WTF) and the gunfight in particular were just spectacular. The sheer ridiculousness of it all was overwhelming too, I feel like this show it starting at the pinnacle and is just going to move it's way down to the stuff that they don't really care about putting in the show but have to use anyways for storyline purposes.
Anyways, unless Kaicho wa maid-sama blows me out of the water I don't think there's going to be anything quite as interesting as this this season, gogo Angel BEATS!

Well after hiring Jun Maeda I didn't think they'd have much money left anyways, so I suppose that means someone at PA works has a pretty deep pocketbook.

Deep pockets, PA Works? Doubt it but whatever. Ohandbytheway B Gata H Kei was nowhere near bad, I was totally wrong about that show too it was actually really really funny, I'd recommend you guys checking out episode one if you have the chance.

Maybe they cut cost by paying him in bentos.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
Ep 2 was just LOL, especially TK's scene.
So apparently the show hasn't run out of money yet.
I also rather enjoy the OP:
And it's sung by Lia. Does Key have her on speed dial or something?

I imagine many eroge companies have her on speed dial. She does do a lot of OPs for them.
Animation-wise, I don't think I can complain about this show. I'm just hoping that the director doesn't turn it into another Ragnarok: The Animation. That would be tragic.

Haha, yeah that episode was pretty damn funny. Yuri's background was so much sadder than I thought anything from this show would've been but then on the polar opposite you have scenes like TK's sacrifice, and the guy who got kicked off the human ladder 'cause he grabbed Yuri in the wrong place. There are some impressive production values in this show and I'm looking forward to it all.
What do you mean by this?

So I was looking at a character poll that was running and, holy frak, Tenshi and TK domination (Tenshi is orange, TK is purple).
edit: Yeah I know it'sprobably proxies, but still I find it amusing to look at.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
What to say, what to say...
Well, it certainly was a rather less action oriented ep, though it still had some fun moments. It does provided some additional insight during the last stretch that leaves me interested in the overall situation they're in (I'm toying with a few wild speculations).
I do wonder though why the two teachers just stood around dumbstruck while Iwasawa started working the guitar, they could've just grabbed it from her. Also, I don't think I'm looking at it right, but I think GirlsDeMon are supposed to have two more songs... so uh... well I guess I'll wait and see what becomes of it.
Anyways, looks like baseball episode next, which is as close to LittleBusters as we've ever been.
Closing thoughts: I wonder if they have any Key drinks that tastes like bishoujos.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
Wow, that episode left me in awe. I really can't believe that P.A. Works is pulling out such quality. Of course I hadn't known until this show that P.A. stood for Progressive Animation so I suppose they're working true to their name for this show, the animation quality is surpassing Kyoto-doing-Key works.
But as you said Thahn, they added more depth to the plot and simultaneously gave us a new girl's sad past accompanied by her disappearance. So, she fulfilled her life's goal and was able to pass on to the next world smoothly? Interesting, either way the audio CDs that come out for this show are going to have plenty of content, and hinting from the preview for the next ep I guess they quickly find a replacement for Iwasawa.
But really, this show is fantastic. I feel like they've given us so much material in just three episodes but each episode feels so short because of how well done it is. Hell I'm watching the previews just to make it last as long as possible.
I really don't know anything about this show though, so it's exciting to watch more so than other Key works and I'm curious what type of hints they're giving us from what little we have thus far. I mean the show started off in episode one with Otonashi thinking everyone is crazy, then by episode 2 he's just ok with everything, now in episode 3 he's still content in the beginning but between Iwasawa's disappearance and Yurippe's crazy scheme to invade Tenshi's room it looks like he's having doubts again. I'm just curious how the relationship between him and the rest of the group becomes later on, especially now that Yuri is doubting the existence of a God at all; she might start becoming doubtful of why she's doing this in the first place as well.
God I wanna marathon this show.
And yeah those teacher's could've taken the guitar but that'd go against the POWER OF MUSIC!

I think this is what happens when the drawing staff is informed that money is not an issue.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
I do not know why, but I think this series likes irony.
Also, the self advancing/modifying angel reminds me of a theoretical computer program just before it decides to take actions based on its own objective, so maybe some angel vs. barnacle party vs. god.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
Ok so episode 4 is automatically letting me give this show a 10 out of 10, the transition from Yui's tryout to the rock version of the OP was just fantastic. The creativity of this show is astounds me. Honestly I'm starting to think that maybe PA Works is doing a better job than Kyoto could have done.
I thought that Yurippe's way of playing in the baseball tournament without getting everyone erased was pretty clever too. We saw more backstory of another character and unlike the sad and touching ending they went with for the last episode, they play around with how we think the characters are going to be taken out of the picture and give us a lighthearted ending instead. It's a good decision IMO because I don't want to see more characters disappear, I like big casts.
This show makes me laugh a lot too, I especially liked the random broom balancing; Because that's exactly how I'd train myself to be better than someone.
Yui is awesome.
In retrospect I could probably note at least one thing per minute that happened that made me laugh or I thought was awesome so I won't go into it anymore.

Re: Angel Beats: We the Barnacle Battlefront
The lack of piano in the op bothered me, but it is quickly made up when Yui strangled herself.
Overall, though I will comment that I enjoyed the episode and just further reinforces that the place their in is some kind of purgatory because simply there is some great regret weighing them down from advancing. I kind of wondered why they were suffering from amnesia, then I remembered the Rain route from Baldr Sky and it made sense... kinda.
The Yuri oujo laugh was awesome; Kazane is a very talented woman.
Looks like next week is about tests... wait, they're still going to take tests after death. Maybe they're not in purgatory but in hell.
Closing thoughts: Tenshi looks awesome as a baseball manager.

The lack of TK having any real appearance outside of his rather quiet "yeah, yeah" was terrible.
