Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse
That's all you need to know about MLA.
So yeah, 12 episodes and we waste 2, that's a real great start Satellite... Frak, the manga does in 2 pages what this show does in 48 minutes.
Ugh, missing 99% of the cast, and it's one friggin long flashback with a bunch of characters I don't care about. All well at least there's promise that most of them will die in ep 2 (spoiler: Kyoto falls and most or all will die, except Yui since she's got plot armor).

Awesome, they're all dead, can we please have the main cast now?
Frak, Ga-Rei-Zero only needed one ep.
Actually that Take was pretty frickin sweet.

Re: Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse
I was amused by the sheer number of people who died while stupidly shooting at the frontal armored side on the aliens, as if they never figured out that it doesn't actually work after years of fighting them. Also, if they had smokescreens, why wouldn't they think of using that to cover their retreat first?
Oh, and CG still feels extremely out of place. I honestly don't know why I watched ep 2, though it was a lot better than the last one (mostly because I hated all of the characters, and they ended up dying). I thought that the main girl was going to die too so that they could introduce an actual cast, but I guess the show is actually all about her.

BETAs have no range weapon outside of the Fort (really limited range) and Laser classes, so there's no real point. Plus they were operating under the assumption that they were flying too low for the laser spam.
But yeah, it was fun watching the regulars getting killed. To be fair, the lasers were probably killing the ones who jumped since they figured out by standing on a hill they fix their shooting angle problems. The only other way would be to get into the thick of the ranks with the grapplers (scorpions). Point is, apparently nobody thought it was a good idea to put heavy weapons in those supply crates.

They should just replace the MC with the Russian Bear.

Knife Attack De Aru!
I prefer the old OP:
Anyways, the REAL introductory episode. And we're already at where Kriska shoots down Tarisa, skipping a shower scene (that's the opportunity cost of those first two eps... FFFFFFF) and the reason for their hostility.
Otherwise, I rather like the episode. Yuuya is a far cry better than Bratty Savior. Yuuya actually has some personality, well at least so far. I'm not really digging Yui though. She was kinda of a bitch for like no real reason.
I guess the formal introduction of the Russian Lesbians will be in the next ep. I don't see not liking them.
Closing thoughts:
Noto Mamiko needs more crazy roles.
Also, what's with that insert song? Show needs more storm vanguard:

Re: Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse
So apparently this is gonna be a two cour show. I guess this mitigates some damage from those first two eps.

Why does this show keep using insert songs?

Alright I understand this show now.
It's about a guy who NTRs his American mech for a new foreign mech. I mean, I don't like the way Yuuya is looking at that Shiranui.

Re: Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse
LOL, they adapted the 10th anniversary PV for the VN for the ending.
This show was pretty schizophrenic, had hilarious budget issues, and had problems with scaling consistencies and human anatomy. The characters were an interesting bunch with Yuuya and Cryska getting progressively better as the show went on (granted Cryska wasn't in like 1/3 of it), though Yui got hilariously bad until the climax. Everyone else was more or less static. The mech fights were well done, especially in the "climax" portion of the show. Also I guess it helps TE was pretty much the only mech show in town.
In closing:
Good Show? No.
Enjoyable? Yes.

There were.... less-than-good things said about this show from those who I knew that watched it.

Admittedly, it's more enjoyable if you have exposure to the VNs.
