Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica wtf?
Andrew I think you are confused, your thread title doesn't say Negima?!?!?!?!!!!??!?!??
But seriously both shows feature a ferret looking creature that tells little girls to make a contract to become Mahou Shoujos.
The beginning of the show probably filled it's purpose with the majority of the audience, as to say "omg wtf is going on this show has a confusing into-the-fray beginning it must be badass". I suppose it's not a bad tactic to gain initial interest and try to keep the viewers attention, but to those like me who don't necessarily like Negima, the show didn't have a good start for me.
TBH my favorite scene up until the ending nonsense was Madoka's house life, I lol'ed when the Dad told her to help her brother WAKE UP THEIR MOM, when do you EVER see that scenario. That being topped off with the fact that the Dad is the housewife and the Mom is the one with the career making the money, I thought the whole backwards family was pretty damn hilarious. I think at some point in the series Madoka should realize that things aren't normal and she confronts her parents about it and the Dad commits suicide, drama and reality right there. The last thing I noticed in that scene was the electronic changing picture on the wall, modern technology is slowly infiltrating anime.
But also the show so far has some elements that a lot of popular shows have: Lesbian tendency friend, awesome teacher is awesome, rich bitch (speaking of which, they mention after she says that she has tea study and Japanese dance lessons that "it must be nice to be brought up in a middle-class home" If that's middle class, that means that Madoka considers her house low-class, which seemed normal to me, so what the hell does high-class refer to by her standards?)
A few other things I noticed:
When the class-mates asked Homura what shampoo she used I was hoping she would say Timotei
In the music store the aisle was labeled J-Pop, do the Japs call their pop music J-Pop? I mean last I checked Americans don't call their pop music A-Pop
The technique that the golden almost-drill haired girl used in her magic form looked strangely close to Gilgamesh's technique in FSN, difference is she summoned guns.
Anyways I can't say I didn't like the episode, although the Negima-esque contract a la Ferret kinda irks me, the rest of the show was actually enjoyable. I think that Shinbo is having a field day with this show because all the wonky shit he usually puts in his shows seems to actually be a part of the show now. I do think that this can be something by Shinbo that I enjoy since Bakemonogatari and Dance in the Vampire Bund. Actually the way it seems is that for every show of his I like, there's 2 that I absolutely can't stand. Whatever....... onto waiting next week for some plot.

Those are pretty much staple elements of mahou shoujo.

They probably call the music J-Pop to separate foreign and domestic.

Of course the character that gleefully says that they finally aren't alone etc. etc. is going to end up that way.

Some info might help:
-Urobuchi Gen, staff comments before Madoka aired"I’ve been entrusted with the task of series composition and scenario writing, and on top of that, I have the pressure of working with figures like Akiyuki Shinbo and Aoki Ume, but I’ll try my best to deliver to you a story that would warm your heart!"
-The postface of Fate/Zero"Urobuchi Gen wants to write stories that can warm people's hearts.
Those who knew about my creative history would probably furrow their brows and think this is a cold joke. Actually, I couldn't completely believe it, either. Because when I start typing out words on the keyboard, the stories my brain comes up with are always full of madness and despair.
In fact, I wasn't like this before. I've often written pieces that didn't have a perfect ending, but by the last chapter the protagonist would still possess a belief that 'Although there will be many hardships to come, I still have to hold on'.
But from I don't know when, I can no longer write works like this.
I am full of hatred towards men's so-called happiness, and had to push the characters I poured my heart out to create into the abyss of tragedy..."
-After Madoka 3"Okay now I've took a big load off my mind. Thank you everyone who keep up until today! I'm going back to the normal Urobuchi from now on!"
For reference, this is normal Urobuchi.

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica wtf?
All his instances of explaining Soul Jars lead to the same reaction (plus the odds of Soul Jars being separated from containers are extremely unlikely), so I can hardly blame him for withholding that piece of info if the consequences are a decrease in magical girls. I mean, Witches aren't going to kill themselves.

You wouldn't think a show with a title such as this one would end up being one of the most depressing shows in a long while.

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica wtf?
would another one bites the dust be appropriate now or latter?
In other news the music measures in relation to sayaka are weird , tho considering the measure might be randomly constructed meh.

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica wtf?
Well, all the theories about Sayaka being the witch yada yada weren't right but it's ok, eps 9 and 10 were fantastic. I seriously never would have believed that this show would have become so legendary.
It's like I have this feeling that I want to write a 10-page essay on this show on why it's so awesome, but I can't find the words for it so I suppose I won't try.

Finally Madoka is magicka. Or at least she was.
Also apparently chrono powers give you hammerspace.
Welcome to my world. Well, it's not so much I can't find the words so much as no one would read it so I have to summarize my thoughts and feelings.
edit: Also, wouldn't Madoka turning into a witch and shattering the planet be... counterproductive to Kyubee's goal of countering entropy?

Well Thahn if it makes you feel any better, I do read 95% of the posts in the anime discussion thread, completely, barring shows such as Infinite Stratos 'n other non-Code Geass mecha shows.

Would you read a post that's 26 paragraphs and roughly 4800 words?
