Yeah, fundamentally the show is pretty bad. But I'm still enjoying it more than G no Reconguista. I just feel like nobody takes anything seriously. The mech designs are really stupid looking too.

On another note, I managed to drop 4 shows to make my current total a nice round 15.

Amagi 6: I haven't laughed that hard at an anime actually trying to be funny in a long while. I'd watch Eiko's AVs.

I'm dying here. Man, this season has such good comedies, intentional or not.

Akame 19:
Crazy Hanakana best Hanakana.

And we're going to anime original next week.

Fruit 6:
Huh, I would've thought box cutter girl would have higher value for like 2nd to last girl or something.

Wixoss 4-6:
Frak, there was a serious lack of aki-lucky! Well looks like I get a good amount next time, hopefully.

Cross Ange 6:
I... guess I was just hoping the story would progress. Guess not.

Honestly the only reason I watch this show is context for the preview narration.

My only guess is that they wanna work the VAs continuously for their pay, rather than have half work sequentially. Or they think that the audience would get bored only seeing half the cast for long stretched at a time.

What's a "regular WIXOSS battle"?
She had a good amount of time, and heavy levels of crazy in 6. I honestly thought she was going to stab Hitoe.
Glad to see Ruuko back in Madoka mode.

Was that a hamburger vending machine? The future is here.
I like this show in the same way I like Freezing; the inter-organizational rivalries and developments are more interesting than the aliens that come from god knows where. Though I'm sure Mr. Pilot is going to show up again soon and make some plot happen. Although I suppose it was kinda clever to have meido-chan show up when we were expecting "the guy" to be the surprise guest.

SAO2: It never made sense to me how sleeping in the game would actually matter. Also, Asuna has two characters? YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHARACTER?

I'm constantly reminded why this show is the best.
So you're saying it's deviating from the manga? With only 5 episodes left, that's worrisome. I'd prefer a continuation that sticks to the source.

Tekkaman Calamity wrote:Fruit 6:

Yeah I would have expected the daughter of the man who owns the school to be important enough to be the finale story. Also I find it strange that they would make a Dissociative Identity Disorder story two episodes, and this one in just one. This one seemed a bit more traumatic and required a more convoluted conclusion than "sad 4 kitten, put me in coffin for a few days".

Yeah, they actually spend a lot of time killing that priest dude instead of strangling him in the tunnels and actually lose a Night Raid doing so. The content for next week seems completely original, though it'll probably incorporate some official stuff.

So, I feel ashamed. Noto Mamiko was Arima's mother in Shigatsu Kimi Uso and I didn't notice. Then again, she's only had a handful of lines (sadly) and her character is presently dead, but I still should have caught it.

I need to know everything, What just happened, why'd it feel so fake. Like, the introduction of Shura and his reasoning of "being bored" and Esdeath being "sent off on a mission" felt like it was a filler, but then Lubbock happens. Are you talking about Susanoo's death? Can you point out what plot points each had it's own chapter? On the good side, if this all actually did happen more or less, does that mean we're not deterring from the manga in terms of ending?

If I have to see one more death by car annihilation be a main backstory for a character, I'm going to flip out.

Chumara wrote:I need to know everything, What just happened, why'd it feel so fake.

Because original story.

Like, the introduction of Shura and his reasoning of "being bored" and Esdeath being "sent off on a mission" felt like it was a filler, but then Lubbock happens. Are you talking about Susanoo's death? Can you point out what plot points each had it's own chapter?

Spoiler:
That's because the first part is kinda fake. Shura is introduced as the minister's son and does head a secret police force of teiguu wielders called Wild Hunt. They're limited to the city, so they have fun abusing their power and basically cause trouble for everyone (murder and rape). Esdeath is out of town dealing with the western army (that part is real), so there's really no one there to stop them.

This is part of Wave's development, because they end up (probably) raping and killing Bol's wife and kid (one of the Wild Hunt is a pedophile clown, yeah...). When Shura tries to rape Kurome, Wave gets a dose of awesome and beats down Shura in a fist fight.

It's revealed that Run was a elementary school teacher (I think you can see where this is going) and has a bone with the clown. After faking being Wild Hunt's BFFL, Run tries to kill the clown with Kurome there to help. They end up fighting three of Wild Hunt (including said clown) for their troubles. Run gets trashed, but manages to kill the clown. Then Night Raid shows up and kill the other two while Run escapes with Kurome. Run starts dying and Kurome gets sad because she's losing another friend. Then she kills Run and zombifies him (TOGETHER 4EVER!).

Now at this point you're probably wondering about Lubbock. With half of Wild Hunt dead, Shura gets backup from the Raksasha demon that Tatsumi totally didn't kill. She then tells him about Tatsumi and they ambush Tatsumi and Lubbock and take them prisoner (so same situation, different scenario). Tatsumi gets reunited with Esdeath and tells her he's got a girlfriend. Lubbock gets tortured and loses one of his balls. Yes, I needed to include that.

Shura then tries to use the whole spotting Tatsumi with Esdeath to get the Jaegers disbanded, but Esdeath blackmails the minister with info on Shura (which she got from non-zombie Run) and gets Wild Hunt disbanded instead. Using what's left of his authority, Shura then tries to break Lubbock so that Shura can look like the awesome hero who crushed Night Raid. Lubbock starts talking and they release his shackles. He then reveals hidden strings and strangles Shura to death before grabbing the teleporter teiguu and warping... 5 feet above ground. He gets killed by the most powerful member of Wild Hunt.

As for Susanoo, he got killed by Esdeath when they were killing the priest.

On the good side, if this all actually did happen more or less, does that mean we're not deterring from the manga in terms of ending?

No. The manga is still going and it's currently at the execution yard they're moving at with the end of this ep. Considering we have 4 episodes to go, this will either painfully drag out or we deter heavily unless the author gave them a finish scenario that's vaguely in the ball park.

Thanks for the recap, I think when this is over I might have to read the manga from where it diverged. I don't read manga often, barely at all really.... but this is too good to let go like this.

It looks like she peaced out at the end there. I was concerned with the fact that Mine pretty much did the exact same spiel to beat Budou as she did for Ubiquitous, but this time felt a lot more rushed and less tense, I suppose this is the result of rushing to the end. I'm told that Susanoo dies the same way the "second" time in the manga as he went out this episode, so I'm glad they're trying to use what they can before they wrap it up. I would still prefer a fleshed out anime with additional seasons.

The I feel like the episode plots are all just as forced as this one, but it's set up that way so we can see these likable characters doing these entertaining antics. The constant cut-backs to the crew in the control room to see their reactions were pretty great.

Tekkaman Calamity wrote:Log 9:

DEEN you're not fooling anyone, you blew all your budget on that fight so you had to animate Shiroe basically standing and sitting still for 10 minutes talking about useless philosophical stuff to stay within the budget quota for the episode. Like seriously, everything in the "test realm" scene made zero sense.

I still feel bad for Log Horizon though, SAO this week had a pvp fight, a raid boss, and some after-party stuff that was all better animated than this week's LH. Although SAO is fun to watch, it's unfortunate that LH gets the short end of the stick when it's premise and overall story is much more interesting.

I wish the whole Akame/Kurome encounter had lasted longer. I actually would like to know more about their past and have seen that battle go on a little longer, and not go the way of the samurai.

So I'm going to guess that an H-scene occurred in that "hotel" room. How could the mom dying be a bad route?
