Summer 2016

Post  take-mikazuchi on Wed Jun 22, 2016 10:47 am

FIRST! Suck it fools!

Sequels/Continuations

Active Raid 2 - The lighthearted Psycho-Pass continues

Arslan Senki: Fuujin Ranbu - This show is so underrated and so good. Better than Magi IMO.

D.Gray-man Hallow - I remember zilch of the original. Can't remember if this is continuing from the original or if it's a reboot.

Love Live! Sunshine! - Sunrise has the money to do whatever the hell they want. I hope these characters are as good as gen 1

Shokugeki no Soma: Ni no Sara - Something to be super hype about. YUS!

Phx Wright - Following the games pretty much to a T. It's a pretty decent adaptation.

Jojo's - GURETO DA ZE!

Re:Zero - At the very least, if this season sucks I'll always have this.

New Stuff

91 Days - I haven't heard of Studio Shuka, but the synopsis sounds interesting.

Danganronpa 3 - So there's 2 different listings on anichart. I guess one's a prequel to Danganronpa 2, and the other is the conclusion of the first one?

Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin - The cover art looks like some Valkyria Chronicles shit. I'm on board.

New Game - I need at least 1 comedy up in my list

Qualidea Code - It's action and A-1 Pictures. Don't fail me now

Regalia: The 3 Sacred Stars - Well, the tags say "mecha, sci-fi" so this would get my attention of course. The mechas look kinda stupid tho... not sure if I'll stick with it

ReLife - It's like that movie 17 again with Matthew Perry. Seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this one tho.

Rewrite - A Key adaptation not by Kyoto? What could go wrong...

Taboo Tattoo - Kinda been neglecting J.C Staff, so I'll give it a shot

Tales of Zestiria - Played the game, story was weak. If they focus on the characters a lot it could be decent.

The Maybes

Ange Vierge - Awakened "Exceed" powers in teenage girls? Sounds kinda stupid and generic. I don't know what you see in this shit Ruben.

Battery - It's anime baseball, but not Production IG. Not sure how much I could expect from it. Can I just have more Ace of Diamond?

Hitori no Shita: the outcast - A guy is suddenly attacked by zombies and gets saved by a girl that appears out of nowhere and hands him a sword? Dafuq?

Masou Gakuen HxH - Looks like this season's Infinite Stratos. Looks generic and overdone. Looks like absolute garbage. Yet people on FB are putting this on their lists why?

Orange - The first thing that came to mind was a Brad Paisley song called "Letter to me" oddly enough. "If I could write a letter, to me. And send it back in time to myself, at 17. First I'd prove it's me by saying, Look under your bed. There's a skoal can and a playboy no-one else would know you hid..."

Puzzle & Dragons - I'm not convinced that anime adaptations of mobile games can possibly be good.

10 New + 8 Sequels/Continuations = 18
Assuming I pick up the maybes = 24

That's a lot for me actually. I kinda like only having 15 or less. Seeing as how only about half of that ~15 is actually good on average each season.

P.S. Ruben, for the love of god, don't watch handa-kun. It's 6 years before Barakamon, and that shit sucked.

P.S. Thanh, Project Naga (FE4) is finished and released. Been playing it and it's a fantastic patch. No game crash when using Julia's holy weapon, and the dialogue is now fully translated.

Re: Summer 2016

Post  Chumara on Thu Jun 30, 2016 8:43 pm

Let's get to it, since I'm hella late like I was two seasons ago.
Continuations/Sequels

Active Raid 2: Engrish speaking Tsunemori is always my Jam.

Danganronpa 3 & 3: I've been waiting for this for so long, I can't wait.

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 3rei: I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THESE TITLES MEAN BUT ILLYA IS ALWAYS THE BEST.

Love Live! Sunshine!!: I've heard quite a bit of music that they've released in the phone game with the new characters and it ain't great, hopefully I get enough nostalgia of the first cast with these new girls that it ends up just being fine.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi: This show was one of the best shows of it's year and I saw it late, I want more and more now.

Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara: OSOMATSU!

Phoenix Wright: I'm enjoying the show, the court system in its universe is extremely silly, but I'm watching it with someone so I watch 4 eps all at once every month it seems at the moment.

JOOOOOOOJOOOOOOO: Still gureto, still fabulous.

Kuromukuro: This show got better going into the late season, I'm still on-board, but it needs to make some drastic shit happen to get it a better score.

Re:Zero: White Fox is still delivering their A-Game, and I'm always coming back for more every Sunday.

New Stuff

91Days: Shuka did a good job with all of Durarara's season 2, another show with a gang theme might just be right up their alley.

Amanshu: Something about maelstroms and JC Staff.

Ange Vierge: I said I wasn't going to watch anymore shitty magical school fighting random monsters shows, but here I am, because it's Silver Link.

Handa-kun I saw what you said Matt, but what really bugged me about Barakamon was the main little girl, if she's not in the show I might actually like it.

orange: TMS entertainment is pretty hit and miss, but I like these kinds of shows.

ReLIFE: See "orange"

Rewrite: why are there 3 fucking shows I'm watching that start with "Re", anyways, Key, dorama, yada yada.

Taboo Tattoo: Did I hear "American Agent"? Also JC Staff.

Tales of Zestiria the X: I dunno why it's "the X" but I beat the game finally last month and it was overall enjoyable. It's going to be super sad seeing Lailah without Miyu Matsuki's voice, but we'll see. Also on that note, Sapphire in Illya was also Matsuki-san.......... this sucks.

Maybes

So this season I'm really on edge about a lot of shows, mainly because this year is pretty game-heavy for me and it's been a little rough keeping up with so many shows. There's a lot I would normally try anyways, but this time around I'll see how many more shows I can fit in here and there and take recommendations from people on the following:

(PS TMS is doing a LOT OF SHIT THIS SEASON)

amaama to inazuma: Sounds cute, but maybe a little too low calorie.

BATTERY: I don't wanna get into ANOTHER 100+ episode sports show, but if it turns out being good and only 1 or 2 seasons, I'll probably hop on late.

Hitori no Shita: the outcast: ZOMBIES!!!! but who is Emon??? I'll keep a close eye on this.

momokuri: I like this premise, but satelight can't be allowed their anime-ruining rampage.

Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin: Code Geass without mechs?

NEW GAME!: Although most game-design shows have been bad, I do like Dogakobo a lot, and they might have a fresh new take on it.

Qualidea Code: I almost choked when I saw the enemy was called "Unknown", this is basically the exact premise I wanted to avoid....... but it's A-1 pictures and I like Asterisk so....

Servamp: This is borderline "not even going to bother" mainly because of Brain's Base, but I like vampires so I'll need some strong encouragement from people to want to pick it up over my previous choices.

18 shows with 8 maybes. Also worth mentioning is that I'm not going to watch any of the shorts, at least I don't think I want to..... again someone will have to give me a good reason to watch something. I was considering the magical girl one, but we'll see.
If I get laid off from my job I can watch them all!

I would've preferred to watch this in a weekly format. All at once is too much.

Art is spotty at places, but otherwise it's a okay show.

Love Live Sunshine 1:
Not at all what I was expecting, I thought it was about Honoka and Eri's sisters taking over the club...... but I guess they'd rather rehash the entire story in the countryside. Seems ok so far, but it's like I was watching the original LL first episode all over again.

I'm gonna pick up DAYS. For some reason I skimmed over it thinking it was a yaoi of some sort, which is stupid because they're all wearing soccer outfits in the picture. I mean, it could've still been a yaoi but at least I would've read the synopsis at least if I had seen the soccer stuff.

ReLIFE 1-11
We ran out of time for the last two eps, but this show is better than I was expecting. I'm not sure if/how it will end, but I'll beg for more if need be.

Tekkaman Calamity wrote:Orange 1:

I didn't watch this yet, but a friend said the first ep was pretty abysmal.

Zestria 1:

It makes sense that they didn't wanna rehash the beginning of the game since we already had that in a hour long OVA form before, but they decided to animate the story of what happened before the start of the game, which is really cool since you never got to see it. BUT HOLY FUCK, it's called "the X (cross)" because they're putting in Berseria stuff as well? This has got to be good. It's weird though that the events they animated included a character you don't see until the last 1/4th of the game or so, lol.

I don't really either, but it's Key. There will be a point somewhere I hope.

New Game 1:

I normally don't go for these slice of life type shows, but this was actually pretty entertaining. I like that it takes place in an adult workplace rather than high school.

Orange 1:

This is also not a type of show I usually watch. But the plot device they are using is something I kinda wish I had in my life.

I was trying to piece together your reference but I fell flat, I was trying to find a Fate comparison and I didn't find anything. Halpmeh.

Anyways, I liked the show to a decent extent, and aside from the lazy as fuck ending, the songs were pretty good too. I kinda wish his power wasn't as tropey as it was, I thought since the blood disappeared from his hand that blood would be the trigger, but they mentioned otherwise right after.

Planetarian OVA 1

I hope they finish the story. It was a good VN.

Alderamin on the Sky 1

Kinda has me curious, and it is Madhouse studio. But man, I just don't know what to make of that first ep. It was like, barely enough to keep me interested in seeing at least the next few.

Arslan still great. Though I am wondering why this season is only 8 eps.

Gonna have to go back and watch eps 70-102 of D.Gray-man. As I predicted, I have no god damn clue what's going on.

ReLife 1-5

Pretty good. An is best girl.

Those faces were bugging me hard, I hope they trim it down a bit going forward because I like the premise.

Someone let me know is Aldermin is worth it in about 2 eps from now.

Also Matt, when I was talking to you about the "Unknown" enemy in Aderamin, I was actually confusing it with Qualidea Code.

ReLife 7

Fukken knew it.

I'm gonna pass on Danganronpa 3s since I never played the second game. Everywhere I've looked people are saying it is most definitely not for anime-only people. The general consensus is play 2 or watch an LP of 2, or you will be incredibly lost.

Planetarian is really good. Shout-outs to Justin on that one. It's only a 5 ep OVA series 12 min long, but the VN wasn't that extensive to my knowledge

You can watch Despair-arc, it's a prequel to literally everything, so you don't need to know anything.

Planetarian is like wtf, this bitch is annoying as hell, but I can get through 5 eps of it. Hell they ain't even 20 mins long.
