Matsuri Festival!
GUYS!
I found out the matsuri festival is soon too. Well. <_< Like a month and a half or so soon.
But still close enough for me to be all "YAYAYAY" about it.
Just wanted everyone to know that. ._.

Re: Matsuri Festival!
Too many cosplayers that just want to get dressed in their outfits and the same mostly boring vendors every time. but I might go anyway because the food is usually good. I can usually get some interest in the martial arts demos.

Re: Matsuri Festival!
I've always thought it somewhat disrespectful and distracting for people to show up in cosplay at Matsuri... but that's just me, I guess.

I dunno about distracting, but I agree it's disrespectful. It kinda reaffirms the fact that the american population only sees the culture of Japan as being anime.

Re: Matsuri Festival!
I always thought that it was a bit disrespectful too. I mean, having a few people there dressed up would be representing a piece of the culture, but when it becomes predominately cosplayers, it does start to become a stereotype. The Lolita type is starting to become that way at Matsuri too. Not as bad though.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that feels that way.
When i went and saw all the cosplayers i was incredibly irritated. <_<

Re: Matsuri Festival!
Well I always felt that Matsuri should be like... an actual Japanese culture celebration. It's just really disturbing that so many people only view it as just another opportunity to cosplay.
