Amagami SS: Baka NiiNii

Synopsis:
A second-year high school boy finds himself uneasy during Christmas time due to an experience in the past. However, this year at Christmas, he gets his last chance to ask out a graduating female senior named Haruka Morishima — or one of several other classmates. The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated. Each heroine will sing her own version of the ending theme song.

Uh... okay, I don't hate it, probably due to the gratuitous amount of romances I've read (which may or may not have involved someone's head being bitten off and jet packs). Or maybe it's because I prepared by watching some lousy shows before the season.

Moving on, considering the show segments four (?) episodes for each romance (six girls, two cours), perhaps AIC should consider only introducing critical characters for each arc instead of... everyone.

Can't comment much on plot since the plot is going to boil down to Junichi (why is this name used so often) trying to score a different girl each month (shouldn't be hard in some cases) and that involves different scenarios (at least it SHOULD involve different scenarios).

Character wise, I'll just touch on the two critical at this point.

First we have Jun1, who apparently had a hard time getting over his first experience with love TWO YEARS AGO. I'm going to hand wave him going from depression to confession all in one episode considering the length. I'll give him a pass since he could at least muster a confession and honestly I am intrigued how it develops from there considering the outcome.

Haruka, the other Shizuka Itou role (and one she's using the Hinagiku voice for), how should I say... is missing one or two cards from her deck. Well, her personality isn't bad so I probably won't have any problems with her arc. Also, she has nice hair.

Uh... in conclusion, this is something I might stick around for.

edit: wait a minute, there's only five endings listed in ANN. So there's only going to be five arcs then, I wonder how they're going to chop up two cours then?

Downloading as I type this but, yeah any character with the suffix ichi should stop appearing in stories.
I'm expecting this to be EXACTLY what I think it's going to be which your explanation of it seems to support thus far.

God damnit, this show was so standard.
This show reminds me of Tokimeki Memorial more than anything really, at least this first arc is.
Main guy gets lucky for the poplar girl of the school and wins even though he doesn't deserve it, at least I'm sure that's how the arc is going to end, imo the arc should've ended already since she rejected him but obviously it's going to get better for him. I wish someone had told me that all I had to do was buy a freshman girl something for lunch to get the poplar girls to notice me lol.
The intro song could have been so much better if the lyrics weren't so gay, but for the theme I can't complain really, and the OP sequence led me to believe that there was going to be some lesbian comedy (which never gets old) but that just ended up being an eccentric imouto.
Honestly I don't like the poplar girl route in any show, I've always liked the stories that involve a love that evolves from something more than a pseudo-fascination with the idol girl of the school, shows like Kimi ni Todoke and Kimikiss (amongst others) stray away from the poplar girl route and I've always enjoyed them more in the end. With that said I think once this arc passes I'll enjoy it more, it's just too bad that Shizuka gets stuck with the role, I do enjoy her "I'm so much more poplar than you but I'm nice about it anyways" voice style and it's nice to hear again after having a season of Fumiko Purple.
Oh and, that bump into each other scene in the library....... that was one of the weakest looking bumps I've ever seen and it looked like she ran into a wall. And what was with him imagining his sister in the shower?
In defense of Junichi's character, at least he's not one of those main leads who squirms like a bitch when his friend shows him his new porn mag, this guy likes his women. You can be assured that he's in fact not gay.

EDIT: Totally forgot but, I noticed that crunchyroll hasn't gotten any of the new shows yet, they do usually get them 1 or 2 weeks in but I'm hoping my 7 bucks a month goes the distance this season.

Saw the show last night, I'd say it's gonna be a slow start for me. I'm not really a fan of the popular girl either. (Then again, what hooked me into watching the show was Sex-Hair Kaoru, so I'll just be patiently waiting for her arc)

But the show did seemed promising, I wanna see exactly how the show plays out. One of the reasons I liked the Higurashi series so much was that it was several scenarios in one season (another reason was the random epic battle on the roof at the end of season 1, but I digress), so I can't wait until we start seeing the other arcs as well.

Sources tell me this is going to be 26 episodes... I don't see how that's going to break down.

Don't be so quick to judge. If it is 26 episodes, one of the arcs could go School Days on us and give the audience a bad end. Just sayin, it could happen.

If this show wants to succeed, it will go School Days in one of the arcs.

Ep 2 was pretty good actually, there's a lot of progress made in the romance and I think my fears that four episodes are too short for romances are being eroded. Overall I'm actually looking forward to the next episode.

End thoughts: Shizuka Itou is amazing.

Well I have a 3 hour train ride to go through tomorrow, back and forth that is, so I'll see if I can watch these eps on the train or not. If so I'll try to post about it tomorrow, dunno what time I'll be back though. DDLing UTW subs OVER NIGHT yeah that's how bad my internet is here, but of course I always archive Eclipse subs when available, I wish I could IRC...

Well that episode was a little more interesting, I guess every girl is going to have her little quirk that lets the guy win her. Of course, I thought that when Hibiki-senpai told them to scram that he was going to defy her OR he was going to help her sneak in later to take a swim, of course I suppose these are things I would've done so....
I liked how at the end when she leapt from the chair to enjoy his kawaii eyebrows, the coat came flying off her and then when it zoomed out it was neatly folded on the table, funny.

Desperation + masochism is a rather interesting combination. This is probably the most awkward relationship I've ever seen, which in itself is quite telling. But whatever I may say, there's no denying that I could not look away from the screen or that I thoroughly enjoyed ep 3.

Well, on the plus side I have a better understanding of the doujins now.

So I'm not sure I can get through 21 more episodes with this murderous intent I have towards Junichi. I can't remember the last time I thought a main protagonist of a love situation was THIS stupid, at least Makoto's stupidity in School Days was somewhat tolerable, and that show was just fantastic in so many other ways that it barely mattered.
At least I liked the ramen scene (I could make a personal reference to my life with my ex but I won't), I think Shizuka has been doing a great job so far with her character. I just hope the other girl scenarios include a different guy, or this current relationship changes his character.
Even though Junichi's voice actor is the guy who's only big role was Youya in White Album, he's doing a really good job of making his voice sound a lot different than how it usually sounds, actually it sounds like Yukimura from Sengoku Basara, and I think it's an interesting type of voice.
Speaking of which that's another show I really wanna see but can't yet.

I know, I just felt like it anyway. If you look at the theme song, you can see what order they're going to show all of the girls' arcs in the show. At least that's what 4chan has speculated.

Just watched episode 4, I loved the ending minus the no implied sex scene, tsk tsk. I also liked the 10 years later part. At least it's not like he gets dumped by every girl before he moves onto the next one, they just continue a la Higurashi reset.
I WAS hoping for a different male lead for each girl but, I guess I can't ask for too much.

Okay I finally got around to watching 6 and... what the hell, does every girl have a kissing spot or something? Is the next girl going to be the back of the elbow?

So I finally watched 5 and 6, I think what I like about this show the most that sets it apart from other dating sim adaptations is that is has a more upbeat atmosphere with the characters, the BGM and the setting. The two girls so far have been a little more interesting than most female characters in an eroge, and the main character isn't a total bitch. Also it has these strange kissing spot situations which are hilarious, and I hope they only get more erotic. But it seems that there's going to be more drama coming up next episode which is fine too. I think the OP goes really well with the show as well after the first 5 seconds of those two engrish lines. It seems like the class president chick with the long black hair, IF she's an eventual arc girl, will be more mundane than the first two, but her hair is generically awesome so it's ok.

SO this SHow is amazing at making me feel awkward and if in the next arc he starts sucking some back i will just one happy guy. i really want the red head freshman arc to happen or just a longer first arc i think they should skip the whale of his child hood friend arc, or i just might do it by myself
