Lol no, I was pretty prepared. I mean the poor performance of the American (un)special forces. That caused quite a stir, but I was pretty prepared to see stuff like that.

I think I preferred that she either never died, or stayed dead, but I figured there'd be some miracle that would save her, I just wish it wasn't time travel related.

The guy never got back to me on the details, but I would've won assuming they succeed in going back to save her.

That episode was: Great, kinda creepy, and slightly confusing. I'm not seeing any confirmations of continuations for this show, so I'm worried about getting more after this season, which I want. But on the "kinda creepy" note, who the hell would design their NPC to transform into THAT.

This episode made me realize that it's not often that you see female character's eating so wildly in anime, while the males eat with dignity.

I'm just expecting a fat "SEASON 2 IN WINTER 2016!" at the end of this show.
I feel like killing Shalltear isn't something that the writer wants to be permanent, it doesn't seem like the kind of show that would really benefit from having key characters dying as much as something like Shingeki no Kyojin or Akame ga Kill were. So for once, I hope they cop out of his current plan.

It'd be such a waste to hire Sumire and then kill her.

So episode 9 of God Eater is going to be the last? If this is true... I haven't seen an anime actually get cancelled since Prayers back in 2005.

I wish I knew what happened to UFOTable.

My guess is UBW happened and they realized (correctly) they needed their resources on that show. With God Eater out right after UBW, they didn't even get started yet and were working from nothing. Enter 13 other studios with two directors in charge probably led to serious conflicts of quality control.

I felt this way about this show.....
and then I REALLY felt this way about Prison School.

Why can't actual GOOD shows have more seasons?

Eh, I never got into this show like the others. It had it's moments, but I would've preferred the main dude keep being a jerk for a lot longer. All well, at least I learned what the name was.

I never get tired of the Engrish.

It was definitely a weaker work by Jun, on a personal level I didn't like the introduction of time travel, on a greater scale, I thought the whole savior of the people ending was full of shit. I really liked the first half, it was a strong 9/10 coming out of the gates, and I thought the episode when he was in depair over Ayu was fantastically done relative to other shows with similar plots. While I appreciate that they want us to figure out the connection between Zhiend and Yu, while most anime just shove these metaphors, "twists" even in your face obnoxiously, Charlotte should have given us a small bit of closure on that avenue towards the end to let us know that whatever theory we have may or may not be correct. Some anime (very few) know how to balance the scale of letting the audience figure things out, and pushing the answer onto you like a divorced aunt, Charlotte was almost there but not quite.

Overall, I'll give this show a 7/10, again the first half was fantastic, and I liked the characters overall.

Overall:

The show started out as something I was concerned about, but once they got out of the damn tower things shot up real fast. I enjoyed the story concept of following the "bad guys" or at least one of them, and the story brought an interesting bunch of characters. I'm not sure meshing the story with gaming, but it didn't feel like a detracting factor, so it's all good. The only fault I'd say is the pacing on some of the segments.

Overall 8/10. Enjoyable show.
